Dollmaking Workshop:

Spirit in All Things

Facilitated by Simeng Wang

Saturday, April 11 & Saturday April 18

12:00pm-2:00pm

DollMaking Workshop: Spirit in All Things

with Artist & aspiring Art Therapist Simeng Wang

Date/Time:

Saturday, April 11 & Saturday, April 18

12pm-2pm

In this 2-part workshop, offered in two consecutive Saturdays totaling 4h of creation, you’ll create your own Spirit Doll using a variety of crafting materials, guided by artist Simeng Wang. Your doll can become a companion, a guide, a guardian, or a reflection of something meaningful within your inner world.

Simeng’s practice is deeply inspired by her Chinese cultural background. Within the ancient Chinese culture, there is a rich spiritual and expansive world in which all things are believed to carry spirit, or ling (灵). There are many different kinds of spiritual beings, such as jing (精), guai (怪), gui (鬼), xian (仙), yao (妖), and shen (神). In Chinese folk belief and storytelling, animals, plants, landscapes, and objects all have spirits, consciousness, or transformative power.

In this workshop, you are invited to craft a doll inspired by a spirit that truly speaks to your heart — something playful, protective, mysterious, or meaningful to your own inner world.

Price: $50+tax/workshop
